Courses and Services Offered to Part-time Students
Starting your journey to become a certified EMT is such a rewarding process–one that can be achieved in little time, with hands-on instruction. EMTs are employed all over the country in fire departments, ambulance services, hospitals, and medical facilities. Enrolling in a basic EMT class will prepare you for a satisfying career in the medical field, and you might even enjoy yourself in our fun, team-oriented environment.
EMT is the first class you must take to work towards becoming a Paramedic, as well as the minimum amount of work you must complete before working as an EMT in the field. To cater to your schedule, we have created a wide range of class availability. We offer a series of day or evening EMT classes in Provo, Salt Lake Valley EMT classes, and online or blended EMT courses if you’re unable to come to our location. You can find further information on pricing and course duration under products on our site.
It’s also worth noting that we offer accelerated 4 week EMT classes–especially designed for those wanting to get into the field as soon as possible.
Advanced EMT Classes:
Nationally Registered EMTs or advanced EMTs must take a refresher course every two years to meet recertification requirements. Our advanced EMT classes are designed for advanced and basic EMTs and will give you everything you need (which is required by NREMT) to recertify all in 24 hours.
We also offer the basic EMT class, but they’re designed primarily for AEMTs. Formerly known as the intermediate course (now advanced), this second tier of EMS training classes is approximately 150 hours in length (about ten weeks of training) and meets the latest National Emergency Medical Services Educational standards as stated by the Utah Bureau of Emergency Medical Services and NHTSA. This course will specifically help you to prepare for your Utah and NREMT testing to become an AEMT.
Conveniently, classes are offered during fall, spring, and summer semesters. With just a few additional Saturdays, you’ll be ready to treat patients and improve overall technique after the completion of this course. You’ll learn about advanced airway management, EKG recognition, advanced level medications and their administration, and a fuller understanding of how the overall body works. This knowledge will serve you as you work in the field.
Attending part-time paramedic school in Utah is well worth your time considering how involved and hands-on our highly trained EMS instructors are, and the quality training equipment you’ll be working with. We want to improve your skill set, all while doing it in a timely manner and at low cost.
(To register for any advanced EMT courses, you will already need to be a certified EMT.)
ITLS Classes (for all certification levels):
On top of basic and advanced EMT courses, here at Mt. Nebo we offer International Trauma Life Support classes to become an ITLS provider–another great option if you’re looking for part-time paramedic school, or just want to continue your education. Plus, this is an option for all certification levels. ITLS is internationally known as the standard training course for pre-hospital trauma care. Courses are also implemented in various paramedic, EMT, and first responder training programs.
ITLS courses will specificially increase your skills and knowledge on how to take care of trauma patients–centering on rapid assessment, appropriate intervention, and identification of immediate life threats. The ITLS framework has been structured to meet rapid, appropriate, and effective trauma care standards in any given situation.
The course is set up to give you classroom learning, hands-on skills, and assessment that will then help you in simulated trauma scenarios. Each ITLS course includes a manual with in-depth content written and edited by trauma care experts. Additionally, ITLS is an approved provider by the Commission on Accreditation of Pre-Hospital Continuing Education (CAPCE) and all ITLS courses are CAPCE certified.
2019 Blended Wildlife & Disaster Course in Provo:
Here’s a course that caters to a lot more than just EMTs or Paramedics. Whether you’re an outdoorsman, a scout leader, tour guide, or just itching for more experience in the wilderness, this class was made for you. Our blended course style is ideal because you can study online material at home before arriving to your first day of class, which will prepare you to jump right into the skills portion of the course. Once you have completed the online portion, we will put you to the test outside. It’s not as intimidating as it sounds–we will have hands-on instructors and experts there to help you along.
This course goes beyond the 1st Aid, EMT, or Paramedic course you attended and will provide you with skills and knowledge of what to do in the wilderness with a minimum amount of equipment. Throughout this second section of the course, you’ll immerse yourself in wound care, medical emergencies, allergies, and other common problems that people encounter in the backcountry. We will teach by doing–not just sitting. As expected, we would spend most of the time outdoors engaging in physical activity, so come prepared.
This is a great part-time paramedic school in Utah that will ultimately help you attain career goals–or just help you to become more experienced in the wilderness for your upcoming adventures.
EMTs, AEMTs, and Paramedics are required to have over 100 hours of Continuing Medical Education. Mt Nebo can provide you with a tailor-made program (regardless of your training level) that fits your needs and checks off the Utah and NREMT CME requirements all in a timely and inexpensive manner.
